Position Overview:
The Lab Baker is an essential part of our in-house production team, responsible for preparing and baking our specialty breads daily. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with bread and takes pride in producing consistent, high-quality products. This role supports daily bread assembly, baking, presentation, inventory tracking, and maintaining a clean and organized baking environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, organized, and committed to upholding high standards in both product quality and workplace professionalism.
Core Responsibilities:
Product Quality & Execution
- Prepare and bake breads according to established recipes and procedures
- Ensure consistency in quality, taste, and presentation
- Properly display finished products for retail sale
Inventory & Organization
- Complete routine inventory counts and communicate updates to the Baking Manager
- Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) practices to maintain freshness and reduce waste
- Monitor ingredient levels and report shortages proactively
Cleanliness & Food Safety
- Maintain a sanitary and well-organized workspace at all times
- Follow cleaning schedules and practice "clean as you go"
- Properly clean, sanitize, and store tools and equipment after use
- Adhere to all food safety and health regulations
Training & Team Communication
- Participate in training for new recipes and procedures
- Stay updated on operational changes and implement them promptly
- Communicate professionally with the Baking Manager and team members
- Report any issues, concerns, or quality inconsistencies immediately
Qualifications:
- Valid Food Handler's Certificate (Can be completed upon hiring)
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
- Baking or kitchen experience preferred (home baking experience is a plus)
- Basic math and computer skills
- Must be 18 years or older and authorized to work in the United States
- Must be available to work 15–25 hours per week (flexible)
- Must be able to commute to the work location (in-person role)
