Overview:
A person in the downtown Baltimore area is seeking a part-time employee who can work from the morning until the evening on the weekends. The employer is an active leader within the advocacy field in Maryland, including being on multiple non profit boards, and currently advocates for improved mobility services within the state. The employee would be assisting with weekend activities, community engagement, and home management. The ideal candidate understands that adults with disabilities expect and deserve the same mutual respect afforded to any adult and can provide support in a dignified, person-centered manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with meal planning, and meal preparation
- Provide general household management support
- Providing support to the employer with using the restroom
- Providing assistance to the employer with bathing/showering
- Assisting the employer with mobility, which requires knowledge about a pivot transfer
- Assist with biohazard handling/removal
- Utilize web-based communication tools (Zoom or equivalent), assist with telephone conferencing, and assist with managing virtual calendars
- Supporting the employer out at community events and activities
- Assist with preparing the employer for the next day
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge of how to successfully complete a pivot transfer
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to use web-based tools and virtual meeting platforms
- Experience handling/removing biohazardous material
- Experience with meal planning/preparation
- Adult First Aid/CPR/AED certification (prior to start or obtained shortly after)
- Willingness to receive on-the-job training
- Ability to pass criminal background check
Compensation and Schedule:
- Saturday: 8:00am-1:00pm, 6:00pm-9:00pm
- Sunday: 7:00am-9:15am, 2:00pm-9:00pm,
- Starting pay- $25.00 per hour
