Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Welder - Combo to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of welding operations, including MIG, TIG, FCAW, and SMAW. Your expertise will ensure the precision and quality of fabricated pipe and structural, adhering to safety protocols and industry standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on construction site projects and fabrication shop tasks, contributing to high-quality metalwork that meets project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints to determine welding requirements and fabrication procedures
- Perform welding using various techniques such as MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) on different metal materials including sheet metal
- Use measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, power tools, and measuring tapes to ensure precise cuts, fits, and welds according to specifications
- Operate fabrication equipment such as plasma cutters, machining tools, and assembly fixtures to shape and assemble metal components accurately
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols during all welding and fabrication activities, maintaining a safe work environment on construction sites and in the shop
- Interpret technical drawings and blueprints for mechanical fabrication projects involving construction site experience
- Utilize shop math skills for measurements, calculations, and ensuring proper assembly of fabricated parts
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, inspections completed, and quality checks in compliance with industry standards
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction site environments with a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes
- Proficiency in multiple welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding
- Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints accurately
- Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes, and other precision tools
- Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication shop processes and assembly procedures
- Experience working with sheet metal fabrication and mechanical materials in a shop or construction setting
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to welding operations and construction environments
- Ability to operate power tools safely and efficiently during fabrication tasks
- Knowledge of American Welding Society (AWS) standards is preferred but not required
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and blueprint interpretation necessary for precise fabrication tasks
- Construction experience is highly desirable for understanding project requirements on-site
- Mechanical blueprint interpretation skills for accurate assembly and fabrication work
- Experience with plasma cutting machines and machining equipment is a plus
