Job Summary:
LSN Fiber Technicians (Techs) are responsible for splicing, testing, troubleshooting, installing and removing fiber optic cables / enclosures to ensure optimal network performance. This is an Outside Plant (OSP) field position that involves working on-site to install, repair, and maintain fiber optic network infrastructure. The role requires technical expertise in fiber optic systems, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in various environments. Travel and night shifts may be required.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform Fiber Optic Splicing (Fusion Splicing)

Conduct OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) testing, power meter testing, and troubleshooting.

Install, terminate, and maintain fiber optic cables and enclosures.
-
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and splicing documents.
-
Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety protocols.
-
Maintain accurate documentation of splicing activities and test results.
-
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to meet project deadlines.

Provide on-call support for emergency repairs as needed.

Troubleshooting network issues
Safety & Compliance:

Adhere strictly to safety protocols and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Perform regular equipment and vehicle inspections to ensure functionality and safety.

Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to fiber optic installations and operations.

Participate in safety training and meetings to stay updated on best practices.

Identify and mitigate potential hazards in the work environment.

Work in compliance with City regulations and officials.
Technical Expertise:

Proficient in using fiber optic specific tools and equipment, including fusion splicers, OTDRs, and power meters.

Thorough understanding of fiber optic network design, installation, and troubleshooting.

Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.

Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve network issues effectively.

Stay updated on advancements in fiber optic technology and tools to improve work quality and efficiency.
Qualifications:

Proven experience in fiber optic splicing and testing.

Familiarity with fiber optic tools and equipment, including fusion splicers and OTDRs.

Strong understanding of fiber optic network design and infrastructure.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Willing to travel and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, if required.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Able to pass a drug screening and background check

Industry certifications and degrees are a plus.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.

Comfortable working in various environments, including outdoor and confined spaces.

Ability to climb ladders, operate a bucket, and work at heights as needed.
Work Environment:

This position is based in Phoenix, AZ, and involves working primarily in outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather conditions, including high temperatures during the summer months.
- The work often takes place at construction sites, utility poles, underground vaults, and other field locations.
- Technicians must be comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and around active construction equipment.

The role may require travel to various job sites out of state and includes occasional night shifts depending on the project requirements.
