Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to provide direct support to individuals with behavioral health needs, under the supervision of licensed professionals, including assisting with daily living, crisis intervention, and therapeutic activities, while maintaining accurate records and promoting a safe and supportive environment.
Duties
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like dressing, bathing, and eating.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement.
- Monitor client behavior and progress.
- Transport clients to appointments and activities.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Respond to behavioral crises and de-escalate situations.
- Implement crisis intervention plans as directed.
- Provide support during challenging times.
- Promote social and recreational activities.
- Encourage client participation in activities.
- Document client observations and progress notes.
- Maintain client records and ensure confidentiality.
- Prepare reports as needed.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Communicate client observations and progress to team members.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in training.
- Assist with administrative tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment.
- Follow established policies and procedures.
- May assist with medication administration (depending on training and regulations).
Experience
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- Some positions may prefer or require an associate's degree or equivalent in a related field.
- One to two years of experience in a behavioral health field is common.
- Experience working with diverse populations and individuals with complex needs is often valued.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of basic behavioral health concepts and principles.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure.
- CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.
- Criminal background check is often required.
- Some positions may require specific certifications or training
- Experience working with children or special needs students may be preferred in some settings.
