QA Technician - Food
Job Location/Shift: 1st shift (6am - 2:30pm) onsite in San Lorenzo, CA
Job Salary: $27 - $32/hr + OT
Requirements: 4+ years of Food Safety or Quality Assurance experience within food manufacturing
We believe every meal is a chance to make a difference. We aren't just making food; we are a mission-driven team serving over 35 million meals a year to schools and seniors. We are proud of our "business for good" mindset, where we focus on quality nutrition and making a real impact in our communities. We're looking for people who want to be part of a team that delivers dignity and joy through the meals we create every day.
The Opportunity
We aren't looking for someone to sit behind a computer all day. We need a hands-on Quality Assurance Technician II who wants to be out on the floor ensuring our food safety standards are met. This is a senior role for someone who knows their stuff, works with independence, and wants to move into a Supervisor role in a short period of time. If you are ready to take ownership, work with a great team, and help us maintain our high quality as we continue to grow, this is your chance
What You Will Do
Own the Floor: You'll be the main point of contact for food safety on the production lines, making sure everything runs to our high standards
Keep Things Safe: You'll be responsible for checking cooking temperatures, cooling rates, and other critical safety points to ensure our meals are perfect every time
Solve Problems Fast: When an issue pops up, you're the one who investigates it, finds the cause, and helps get us back on track
Coach the Team: You'll spend your day working directly with the crews, coaching them on the right way to do things and making sure everyone is on the same page
Get Results: From running tests like pH and water activity to doing pre-op inspections, you'll be the eyes and ears that keep our production quality top-notch
What You Need for This Job
Experience: You've got 4+ years of experience in food safety or QA, and you know your way around a food plant
Regulatory Know-How: You've got a deep understanding of HACCP and food safety rules (USDA/FDA) and know how to apply them in a busy environment
Communication: Bonus points if you are bilingual! (Spanish/English)
A "Hands-On" Attitude: You like being where the action is-on the floor, making decisions, and keeping the bar high
Reliability: You're a pro at detail, you work with urgency, and you take pride in doing your job the right way, every single time
