Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Take X-ray images while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality. Manage medical documentation by accurately recording medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes using EMR systems such as Dentrix Ascend. Support patient education by explaining procedures, post-treatment care, and answering questions with clarity and professionalism. Operate advanced dental technology including 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team as a skilled chairside assistant practicing four-handed dentistry for efficiency. Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and acting as a dental receptionist when needed to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Skills
Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking vital signs, and performing X-ray procedures while maintaining aseptic technique. Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix Ascend for managing medical records and documentation. Strong understanding of infection control standards aligned with HIPAA compliance to ensure patient safety. Ability to operate dental technology such as 3D scanners and other medical imaging devices effectively. Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, explaining procedures clearly and empathetically. Ability to work efficiently in general dentistry settings while supporting specialized areas like prosthodontics.
