We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our dynamic finance team. Responsibilities
- Assist with general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Support the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Participate in accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, ensuring timely processing and accurate record-keeping.
- Help with bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis to monitor financial health.
- Contribute to regulatory reporting requirements, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance and other governmental or non-profit accounting standards such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit).
- Gain exposure to technical accounting areas such as debits & credits, accrual accounting, and financial report writing.
- Collaborate with team members on auditing procedures, internal controls, and financial analysis projects.
- Support budgeting processes, forecasting efforts, and financial management initiatives using accounting software like Sage, Xero, or similar platforms.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a strong academic record.
- Basic understanding of financial concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Familiarity with accounting software tools including Sage or Xero is preferred.
- Knowledge of GAAP standards and regulatory reporting requirements is advantageous.
- Demonstrated interest in areas like corporate finance, public accounting, governmental accounting or non-profit accounting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data accurately.
- Excellent communication skills for financial report writing and interpretation.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
