LITIGATION DOCKETING CLERK
Nicolaides Fink Thorpe Michaelides Sullivan LLP is seeking a Docketing Clerk with three to five years of litigation docketing/calendaring experience to join the growing Los Angeles office and become an integral part of the firm's national administrative and legal support team. This position supports quality client services by maintaining the firm’s master docketing calendar. This role will be located in the Los Angeles office, but serve the docketing and calendar needs of the national firm, including offices in California, Colorado, Illinois, and Texas.
Ideal candidates are self-starters who can work independently and as part of a team, are highly organized, and detail oriented. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and CompuLaw is required.
Initially the new hire will be asked to work in the office Monday through Friday, but once the tasks and responsibilities are learned, a hybrid schedule will be possible. Three days in the office and two days remote. Our office is in downtown Los Angeles with nearby parking facilities. The firm provides a parking reimbursement, if needed.

The anticipated salary range for this position is based on a 37.5-hour per week schedule as well as experience; the anticipated salary range is $37.00-$41.00/hour. Placement within the salary range depends upon a number of factors including years of experience and professional skills required for this role.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintains the computerized docket system for litigation attorneys practicing in multiple courts and jurisdictions;
- Processes requests received from attorneys and legal support staff to docket litigation deadlines;
- Reviews pleadings, discovery, filings, and depositions for pertinent deadlines and daily entry into the firm’s calendaring platform;
- Maintains and publishes an up-to-date court and firm holiday calendar;
- Manages complex docketing work;
- Research court codes, state and federal statutes, court websites, and legal databases as appropriate;
- Distributes a timely and accurate weekly calendar to relevant attorneys and staff;
- Serves as a subject matter expert and resource for attorneys, legal assistants, and paralegals regarding court requirements and procedures;
- Assists legal assistants with tracking court requirements for e-filed documents;
- Meets deadlines and works cooperatively with all attorneys and legal support staff;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, CompuLaw, Adobe Acrobat, PACER, ShareFile; and Westlaw;
- A thorough understanding of court docketing and calendaring procedures, including familiarity with court proceedings and general rules of court at a county, state, and federal level;
- Advanced proficiency with an e-discovery platform;
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing with internal and external clients;
- Excellent organizational skills including the ability to work concurrently on a variety of projects with changing priorities;
- Strong attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills;
- Ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced work environment and successfully adapt to changing priorities and demands;
- Ability to collaborate with co-workers and work well in team environment;
- Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimal direction, follow up on own initiative;
- Demonstrated professional interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and courteously with people at all levels within and outside the organization; strong service orientation;
- Willingness to work hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal time pressure;
- Ability to work in the office three days a week and the flexibility to come in more often, when necessary;
- Willingness to learn new software;
Education/Experience/Certifications Required:
- Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred;
- Three to five years of litigation docketing experience at a law firm;
- Solid employment history.
