Responsibilities
- Install new HVAC systems, including ductwork, ventilation components, refrigeration units, and associated mechanical systems in commercial and residential properties
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with HVAC equipment using schematics, electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters, and mechanical knowledge
- Perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity
- Repair and replace faulty components such as compressors, fans, thermostats, electrical wiring, and refrigeration parts
- Read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design plans to execute installations accurately
- Conduct system testing to verify proper operation following installation or repair procedures
- Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and reports for each job performed
Qualifications
- Proven construction experience with a focus on HVAC system installation and repair
- Service technician experience working with HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) systems
- Strong mechanical knowledge including plumbing, electrical diagnostics, equipment troubleshooting, and building automation systems
- Familiarity with schematics, HVAC design principles, and electrical systems required for system installation and repair
- Hands-on experience with hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, welding equipment, and ohmmeters
- Knowledge of refrigeration cycles including ammonia refrigeration systems is a plus
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately to diagnose issues efficiently
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred for transporting equipment or materials
- EPA certification for refrigerant handling required; additional certifications in electrical or mechanical fields are advantageous
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients during service calls
- Mechanical or mechanic experience is highly valued for troubleshooting complex mechanical systems
