Penda Aiken Inc. is a staffing firm located in Brooklyn, New York. Our client is a New York State Agency seeking a dynamic and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a mental health clinical team. This role focuses on providing comprehensive physical and mental health care, overseeing shift operations, and maintaining a safe, therapeutic milieu for patients.
This is a fast-paced, high-accountability role requiring high reliability, punctuality, strong leadership skills, and the ability to strictly adhere to regulatory, clinical, and infection control standards.
Direct Patient Care: Perform medication administration, conduct comprehensive physical and mental health assessments, and lead patient groups.
Shift Oversight & Charge Duties: Serve as Shift Charge Nurse, providing shift supervision and operational direction for Mental Health Therapy Aides.
Therapeutic Environment & Crisis Management: Continually evaluate the therapeutic milieu and employ crisis de-escalation techniques or restraints on an as-needed ($prn$) basis in accordance with safety protocols.
Documentation & Onboarding: Maintain thorough client documentation and assist with the onboarding and orientation of new nursing and support staff.
Licensure & Credentials: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
Certifications: Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification, valid Driver’s License, and completed NYS Mandated Reporter Training.
Schedule & Flexibility: Full-time (40 hours per week) with variable days and mandatory weekend work. Primary assignment is on the evening shift, with flexibility required for other shifts as operational needs arise.
Background Clearances: Must successfully pass comprehensive pre-employment background screening, including NYS Child Abuse Registry clearance, Justice Center Staff Exclusion List (SEL) check, and Criminal Background Check.
Health & Vaccination Requirements: Must provide proof of immunization for MMR, PPD (TB screening), and annual Influenza vaccination during active flu season.
