Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality dental care to our patients, assisting the dentist during procedures, and ensuring a smooth operation within the clinic. This position requires proficiency in various dental practices and technologies, as well as a commitment to patient comfort and safety.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during examinations and treatments, including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, utilizing knowledge of medical imaging and radiation safety.
- Manage patient records, including medical documentation and medical records management in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize dental software systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for scheduling appointments, managing patient information, and documenting treatment plans.
- Perform vital signs checks and assist with patient assessments as needed.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use.
- Provide support in pediatric dentistry settings, demonstrating an understanding of child behavior management during dental procedures.
Experience
- Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred, with familiarity in general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry being advantageous.
- Proficiency in EMR systems is essential; experience with specific software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and medical coding is beneficial for this role.
- Experience with 3D scanners or other advanced dental technology is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and provide excellent customer service within a team-oriented environment.
