The Assistant Middle School Cheerleading Coach will support the Head Cheerleading Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting a successful middle school cheerleading program. The assistant coach will help develop student-athletes’ cheerleading skills while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, school spirit, and positive character development.

Assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting practices, games, performances, competitions, and other cheerleading activities.

Teach and reinforce proper cheerleading techniques, motions, jumps, chants, dances, and performance skills.

Assist with the development and implementation of practice plans.

Supervise and support student-athletes during practices, games, competitions, and team activities.

Promote a positive, inclusive, and encouraging team environment

Reinforce school, district, athletic department, and team rules and expectations.

Emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, responsibility, and appropriate behavior.

Assist with maintaining accurate team rosters, attendance, equipment, uniforms, and other program records.

Help ensure all student-athletes meet eligibility, participation, and safety requirements.

Assist with choreography, routines, game-day preparation, and performances.

Monitor student-athlete safety and immediately report injuries or concerns to the appropriate personnel.

Communicate professionally with students, parents/guardians, coaches, administrators, officials, and other school personnel.

Assist with transportation, team supervision, and other athletic events as assigned.

Help maintain and properly care for cheerleading equipment and facilities.

Attend required coaches’ meetings, professional development, and training sessions.

Complete all required district, state, athletic department, and coaching certifications.

Perform other duties related to the cheerleading program as assigned by the Athletic Director or Head Coach.

Previous cheerleading participation and/or coaching experience preferred.

Knowledge of middle school cheerleading techniques, safety procedures, and fundamentals.

Ability to work effectively with middle school students.

Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and athletic department.

Commitment to student-athlete development, academic success, sportsmanship, and school pride.

Must meet all school district and state requirements for athletic coaches.
The Assistant Cheerleading Coach must maintain all certifications and training required by Lexington City Schools and applicable athletic governing organizations, including required CPR/First Aid and other safety-related coaching certifications.
The Assistant Cheerleading Coach works under the direct supervision of the Head Cheerleading Coach and the overall direction of the Athletic Director and school administration.
