Duties
- Assist veterinary staff with animal restraint, handling, and care during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
- Prepare treatment areas, surgical suites, and kennels by cleaning, disinfecting, and organizing supplies in accordance with aseptic techniques
- Support laboratory procedures including sample collection, processing, and record keeping for diagnostic tests
- Administer medications, perform IV insertions, catheterizations, and injections under supervision while following veterinary protocols
- Maintain detailed records of patient histories, treatments, medications administered, and procedural documentation
- Provide pet care including feeding and monitoring behavior to ensure comfort and safety
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions, post-operative care, and general questions to promote animal welfare
Requirements
- Prior kennel experience or veterinary assistant experience preferred; strong animal handling skills essential
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and animal behavior
- Experience with surgery support tasks such as aseptic technique and medication administration
- Ability to perform cleaning duties diligently to maintain a sterile environment in clinical areas
- Familiarity with front desk responsibilities including client communication and appointment scheduling is a plus
- Capable of working in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail and compassion for animals
- Must use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately to ensure safety for both staff and animals
