Help Launch a New Montessori Elementary School
A new school does not come along often, especially one with this much already in place.
Alsion Montessori is launching a new Grades 1–6 Elementary Program, creating a new home for experienced Montessori teachers, students, and families. Alsion is an established, WASC-accredited nonprofit school with Middle School and Early College programs.
We are looking for an organized, warm, and dependable Elementary Operations Coordinator (Assistant to the Director) to help build the systems, relationships, and daily operations that will support a successful first year.
Working closely with the Elementary Director, this person will play an important role in creating a welcoming, responsive, and well-organized school community for students, families, and staff.
About the Position
The Elementary Operations Coordinator serves as a trusted administrative and operational partner to the Elementary Director.
This is a hands-on, fully on-site school position. The coordinator supports daily campus operations, admissions, family communication, office administration, student services, purchasing, school programs, and community events.
Because the role involves direct interaction with students, families, staff, visitors, and daily campus activities, regular, reliable, and timely on-site attendance is an essential function of the position.

- Provide administrative and operational support to the Elementary Director
- Welcome students, families, visitors, and prospective families
- Serve as a primary front-office contact for routine questions and campus needs
- Coordinate admissions inquiries, school tours, enrollment materials, and new-family onboarding
- Manage calendars, communications, student records, forms, and administrative systems
- Support arrival, dismissal, student supervision, and other daily school routines
- Coordinate purchasing, supplies, vendors, and facility-related requests
- Support after-school programs, enrichment activities, registration, and family communication
- Assist with school events, parent education, and community-building activities
- Maintain confidentiality and follow school, safety, and emergency procedures
- Assist with special projects and other responsibilities that contribute to the effective operation of the school
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- Is highly organized, dependable, and attentive to detail
- Communicates warmly and professionally with children and adults
- Can manage multiple responsibilities and changing priorities
- Takes initiative and follows through with limited supervision
- Has strong computer and office-technology skills
- Works collaboratively with teachers, families, and school leadership
- Demonstrates sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism
- Enjoys solving problems and supporting an active school community
- Has an interest in Montessori education and the development of a new elementary program
Previous experience in a school, nonprofit, administrative, admissions, office-management, or family-facing role is preferred.
On-Site and Physical Requirements
This is a fully on-site position. The employee must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to:
- Maintain regular, reliable, and timely attendance during assigned hours
- Sit, stand, and walk for varying periods throughout the workday
- Move throughout indoor and outdoor areas of the campus
- Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and move between campus areas
- Use computers, telephones, office equipment, doors, locks, and school materials
- Work in an active school environment that may include noise, activity, and changing indoor and outdoor temperatures
- Lift and carry supplies or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally
