Capital Express, an ADL Final Mile Company, is one of the fastest-growing final mile logistics companies in the country. We operate in 60 cities and 18 states. In our Midwest Region, we are looking for a Terminal Manager in Kansas City. Our facility is 150,000 square feet and operates 24/7.
Summary
We are seeking a Terminal Manager to join our dynamic team. This role oversees daily operations, manages staff, ensures compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements, and drives a culture of safety, service, and efficiency. The Terminal Manager serves as the primary point of contact for customers, employees, and corporate leadership, ensuring exceptional service delivery and operational excellence.
Operations Management
- Oversee all day-to-day terminal operations, including dispatch, routing, delivery performance, dock operations, and equipment utilization.
- Monitor service levels to ensure on-time, accurate, and cost-effective deliveries.
- Implement and maintain operational procedures that support efficiency, safety, and compliance.
- Ensure proper staffing levels and manage scheduling to support business needs.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop terminal personnel, including supervisors and support staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations, address employee concerns, and support ongoing training initiatives.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment.
- Resolve service issues promptly and professionally.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure the terminal operates in full compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Oversee safety training, incident reporting, and corrective action plans.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Manage terminal budget, including labor, equipment, and operational expenses.
- Analyze operational metrics, identify opportunities to improve performance, and implement action plans.
- Maintain records, reports, and documentation in alignment with company policies.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of leadership experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or a related field.
- Proven ability to lead teams, drive performance, and resolve operational challenges.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in logistics systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of P&L management and KPI-driven performance.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced logistics environment with frequent interaction with contractors, customers, and leadership.
- May require occasional travel.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 75 pounds repetitively.
- Prolonged periods (8 hours daily) of standing, sitting, bending, reaching, and twisting.
- Ability to work in extreme heat and cold temperatures.
- Rotating on-call weekends
