JOB SUMMARY
The Housing Navigator is responsible for locating appropriate housing for participants, which includes searching for housing through various mediums, viewing housing units, completing habitability inspections to ensure cleanliness and safety, and networking with landlords.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assess the housing needs of participants and assist them in locating appropriate housing.
- Educate participants on service and housing options.
- Tour available housing units and complete habitability inspections.
- Work with participants to develop housing plans that address barriers to obtaining housing and supportive services.
- Maintain notes reflecting significant interactions with participants.
- Network with landlords and property managers and create positive rapport.
- Assist participants with housing applications, complete subsidized housing applications, survey rental market for affordable and market rate housing, and advocate for participants with prospective landlords.
- Assist participants with interpreting leases and understanding tenant rights and responsibilities.
- Maintain the Housing section of client files with all required forms and copies of all housing-related documents.
- Prepare case-related reports including outcomes, successes, and challenges.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in social services preferred but not required, previous experience working in housing strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience which meets the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
- Basic understanding of affordable and market rate housing systems.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device.
- The employee frequently is required to move about the work, apartment, and outside environment.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
