Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service throughout their shopping experience
- Assist vendors with product displays, merchandising, and stock replenishment to keep the market attractive and organized
- Conduct product demos to educate customers about fresh produce and specialty items, encouraging sales and upselling opportunities
- Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately for cash handling and processing transactions efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the market area, including stocking tables and ensuring products are well-presented
- Engage in basic retail math for cash register operations and sales tracking
- Communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and customers using professional phone etiquette when needed
Skills
- Experience with POS systems and cash handling in a retail or grocery store environment
- Supervising experience or leadership skills to assist in overseeing vendor or customer interactions when necessary
- Ability to perform product demos confidently and educate customers about items offered
- Bilingual skills are a plus to serve diverse community members more effectively
- Strong communication skills with friendly phone etiquette for inquiries or vendor coordination
- Knowledge of merchandising, stocking, retail sales, and upselling techniques to boost sales performance
- Basic math skills for retail math calculations, cash register operations, and inventory management
