Job Summary
Ratti Air and Heat is looking for a skilled, dependable, and motivated Lead HVAC Installer to join our team.
As a Lead Installer, you will be responsible for leading HVAC installation projects from start to finish. You will oversee the installation of residential air conditioning systems, ductwork, equipment, and related components while ensuring the job is completed safely, professionally, and according to company standards.
The Lead Installer is also responsible for working effectively with installation helpers, teaching and guiding less-experienced team members, communicating with homeowners when needed, and making sure each job is completed correctly and leaves the customer's home clean and professional.
Responsibilities
- Lead residential HVAC changeouts and new system installations from start to finish.
- Install air handlers, condensers, heat pumps, thermostats, ductwork, drains, electrical components, and related equipment.
- Properly size, position, secure, and connect HVAC equipment and ductwork.
- Perform duct modifications, fabrication, sealing, and insulation as required.
- Read and follow installation instructions, job scopes, equipment specifications, and applicable codes.
- Verify system operation and performance before completing each installation.
- Identify and communicate any job-site issues or changes needed.
- Lead and train installation helpers while maintaining productivity and quality.
- Ensure tools, equipment, materials, and job-site conditions are properly managed.
- Take required job photos and complete accurate installation documentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the installation.
- Protect the customer's home, flooring, walls, and belongings while working.
- Communicate professionally with homeowners and answer basic questions about the installation.
- Follow company procedures, safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and applicable building codes.
- Represent Ratti Air and Heat professionally on every job.
This position participates in an on-call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
- Previous residential HVAC installation experience required.
- Previous experience as a lead installer or the ability to confidently lead an installation crew.
- Strong understanding of residential HVAC systems and installation practices.
- Experience with refrigeration, brazing, evacuation, pressure testing, and system commissioning.
- Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, meters, and other HVAC equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read equipment specifications, installation instructions, and basic schematics.
- Valid driver's license and reliable driving record.
- Comfortable working in attics, crawl spaces, outdoors, and other physically demanding environments.
- Able to lift equipment and materials and safely use ladders and hand tools.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with helpers and other team members.
- Willingness to follow company standards and continue learning new equipment and installation techniques.
