Job Summary
Rogers Manufacturing Co. Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering professional with expertise in sheet metal fabrication, structural steel design, and manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing custom truck bodies and related components, collaborating across departments to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions that meet customer requirements and support efficient production.

Duties
Product Design & Engineering
- Design custom truck bodies, structural components, and metal fabrication assemblies using steel and aluminum materials.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, weldment designs, assembly instructions, and complete bills of materials (BOMs).
- Ensure designs meet customer specifications, industry standards, manufacturability requirements, and quality expectations.
- Evaluate and recommend design improvements to enhance functionality, durability, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
- Perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for stress, strain and fatigue as well as physical testing to ensure product reliability and performance.
- Design, develop, and optimize tooling, fixtures, jigs, and equipment to support consistent quality and production output.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Sales, Leadership, Service, and Supply Chain teams to ensure project success.
- Interpret customer requirements and provide engineering recommendations that balance performance, quality, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Support troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement efforts for products in service.
- Develop and maintain engineering standards, technical documentation, drawings, and product specifications.
- Research and implement new technologies, materials, and manufacturing techniques to improve performance and reduce costs.
- Provide hands-on engineering support to resolve production, quality, equipment, and safety-related issues.
- Conduct root cause analysis and utilize quality tools to identify and implement corrective actions.
Manufacturing Support & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with production teams to refine documentation, improve processes, and increase manufacturing efficiency.
- Analyze manufacturing methods and recommend improvements for fabrication, assembly, integration, and installation processes.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment focused on metal fabrication.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience using SolidWorks, with a strong emphasis on sheet metal and weldment design.
- Strong understanding of steel and aluminum fabrication, welding processes, structural design principles, and manufacturing best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing truck bodies, vocational vehicles, or related equipment.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with MRP and ERP systems.
- Demonstrated success leading projects from concept through production.
- Ability to drive process improvements using data and measurable results.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
