Mobile Phlebotomist
PSC Dx Clinical Lab is seeking a skilled, reliable, and compassionate Mobile Phlebotomist to join our team in Sacramento, CA. This position involves traveling to patient homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and other healthcare locations to perform specimen collections while providing exceptional patient care and maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism.
Position Details:
- Location:Sacramento, CA
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 30 hours/week
- Pay Rate: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour (based on experience)
- Mileage Reimbursement: $0.70 per mile
- Travel Radius: Up to 50 miles from Sacramento, CA
- Schedule may vary slightly based on patient/facility needs and route volume.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and difficult blood draws using proper venipuncture and capillary collection techniques.
- Collect a variety of specimens, including blood, urine, stool, and other laboratory specimens as ordered.
- Perform all types of specimen swab collections, including respiratory, viral, bacterial, and other laboratory-required swabs.
- Ensure proper patient identification and specimen labeling.
- Package and transport specimens according to laboratory protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a courier when needed, including specimen pick-up and delivery between facilities and the laboratory.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient encounters, specimen collection, and chain-of-custody procedures.
- Follow all OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and laboratory safety guidelines.
- Maintain phlebotomy supplies, collection equipment, and vehicle readiness.
- Communicate professionally with patients, facility staff, and laboratory personnel.
- Provide a positive patient experience while ensuring comfort and safety during specimen collection.
Requirements:
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience required.
- Demonstrated experience performing routine and difficult blood draws on adult and geriatric patients.
- Must be proficient in performing all types of specimen swab collections.
- Comfortable working independently in various environments, including patient homes, nursing facilities, and clinics.
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation required.
- Ability to travel within a 50-mile radius of Sacramento, CA.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and provide compassionate, high-quality care.
- Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to stand, walk, carry supplies, and lift/transport specimen and supply bags as needed.
