Manual Machinist / Toolmaker

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Machinist to fabricate custom tools, jigs, and test rigs utilized for aircraft component testing, assembly, and disassembly. In addition to tool making, this role will machine, rework, and repair aircraft parts. The ideal candidate must be competent at operating machine shop equipment, reading engineering drawings, and strictly following technical instructions under FAA Part 145 standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Primary responsibilities to fabricate, fit, and assemble custom tools, jigs, and rigs used in shop testing, assembly, and disassembly operations.
· Set up and perform precision manual machining, modification, and rework on aircraft parts in accordance with engineering data and instructions.
· Set up and operate manual shop equipment, including manual lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.
· Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical manuals, and work order instructions to determine precise operational sequences and tolerances.
· Perform in-process self-inspections using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators) to ensure all tools and aircraft parts meet exact specifications.
· Accurately log work completed on work orders and maintenance records in compliance with company and FAA requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Minimum of three (3) years of manual machining experience; background in tool making, jig/fixture fabrication, or aerospace repair station work preferred.
· Proven experience operating machinery (mills, lathes, grinders).
· Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and written technical instructions.
· Proficient in the use of standard precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators).
· Must be able to understand, read, and write English.
· Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality and documentation accuracy.
