Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated, mechanically inclined individual to join our team refurbishing histology laboratory equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving mechanical problems, and learning how complex equipment works.
No prior experience with histology equipment is required. We are willing to train the right person who is dependable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble, inspect, clean, and refurbish medical laboratory equipment
- Test equipment and troubleshoot mechanical and electromechanical issues
- Document repairs, failures, testing results, and parts used during refurbishment
- Prepare equipment for shipment by properly packing and protecting delicate components
- Perform surface preparation and painting of equipment and components
- Assemble equipment using common hand tools and power tools safely
- Complete light woodworking projects, including building shipping crates and packaging materials
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow quality control procedures to ensure refurbished equipment meets company standards
- Trouble shooting failures and learning common problems.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and genuine curiosity about how things work
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
- Ability to carefully handle delicate components while also lifting and moving heavier equipment
- Comfortable using common hand tools and power tools safely
- Good organizational and documentation skills
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronics or electromechanical systems
- Automotive, machinery, maintenance, woodworking, HVAC, industrial, or similar hands-on experience
- Soldering, wiring, or basic electrical troubleshooting experience
- Experience repairing or maintaining equipment of any kind
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 65 pounds
- Ability to stand, bend, and work at a bench for extended periods
- Manual dexterity to work with both large assemblies and delicate precision components
