Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in substance abuse counseling and a passion for helping individuals navigate their challenges. Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address mental health issues, emotional challenges, and behavioral concerns.
- Utilize various therapeutic modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and motivational interviewing.
- Provide crisis intervention and management for clients in distress or experiencing acute psychological crises.
- Perform intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations to develop personalized treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for clients, including case management and referral services.
- Engage in clinical research and data collection to contribute to ongoing program development and improvement.
- Offer support for specific populations including those with developmental disabilities, PTSD, addiction issues, or chronic pain.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions focusing on grief counseling, behavioral therapy, or art therapy as needed.
Skills
- Proficiency in psychotherapy techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), crisis intervention, and motivational interviewing.
- Experience working with children and families in various settings including outpatient clinics or inpatient facilities.
- Knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems for accurate medical documentation.
- Familiarity with telehealth practices and the ability to provide remote counseling services effectively.
- Strong understanding of behavioral health principles, patient assessment methods, and case management strategies.
- Ability to work with diverse populations including geriatrics, individuals with autism, or those requiring special education support.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient care and collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in areas such as psychopharmacology, gender issues counseling, or applied behavior analysis.
