Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews using advanced EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions, catheterizations, and suturing procedures while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Manage complex cases involving trauma medicine, critical care (ICU/Level I & II trauma centers), cardiac catheterization, dialysis, or neonatal resuscitation procedures.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, phlebotomy, and medical imaging support like sonography or mammography when necessary.
- Provide specialized care for populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, memory care residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, and individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs.
- Assist with discharge planning, case management, and health coaching to ensure smooth transitions from hospital to home or community-based settings.
- Maintain meticulous medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure accurate ICD coding (ICD-9/10) for billing and reporting purposes.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Registered Nurse in diverse environments such as hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU/trauma centers, outpatient clinics, or long-term care facilities.
- Critical care experience including ventilator management, airway management, acute pain management, and trauma medicine is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks; proficiency in medical terminology and medical records management is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to perform advanced procedures such as PICU or Neonatal ventilator support, ostomy care, gastric lavage, or spinal taps.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs populations including dementia or Alzheimer’s care enhances your candidacy.
- Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation law and experience in occupational health settings is a plus.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices and sterile processing techniques to ensure patient safety across all clinical activities.
