Position Overview:
Perfection Industrial Finishing is looking for a skilled and reliable Facilities Technician to manage our facilities maintenance at our Chandler location! The hours for this position are flexible depending on the needs of the business related to production and preventative maintenance.
In this position, the Facilities Technician will be a high energy individual. The employee will also be a person with little to some years of facilities maintenance experience. The Facilities Maintenance Technician must also be able to aid in maintaining all equipment in a way that eliminates production downtime.
The Facilities Technician will help maintain the oversight of the availability and full functionality of all tools, machinery, and equipment used in providing the company’s products and services. Help maintain the functionality and reliability of the company’s fleet vehicles and trailers by completing the delivery truck weekly checklist PIF-F-713-031. In cooperation with the Quality/Safety/Training Manager and the Facilities Maintenance Manager, ensures that timely repairs are completed on facilities and equipment in compliance with safety policies, standards, and with governmental regulations. Maintains functionality of the company’s infrastructure including but not limited to communications equipment, cabling, security systems, office equipment, electrical lines, and plumbing.
Equipment in the facility consists of two 275 CFM compressors, 5 industrial paint/coating booths, 3 large industrial gas ovens, forklift, industrial sandblast setup, and all applicable inline systems. The right person for this position will have industrial electrical experience to work on control panels, temp controllers, motors, and exhaust systems. Experience with pneumatic systems for compressor and inline maintenance is also preferred. Other tasks related to hydraulics (forklift) and general building maintenance may be assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining the company’s facilities such as buildings, land, staging areas, and loading docks to provide a safe workplace for employees and customers, optimize production, and provide an office environment conducive to good customer service and support.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment used in production processes including but not limited to plating equipment, compressors, ovens, evap systems, sand blast units, waste treatment, and other similar production equipment.
- Ensuring full functionality and repairing all rolling stock including trucks, trailers, forklifts, pallet jacks, carts and other related equipment.
- Maintain the exterior of the building and grounds including signage, staging areas, parking, and storage.
- Abide by the installation and/or relocation plans of infrastructure improvements, such as new equipment installations, computer cabling, appropriate power outlets, office equipment, computer workstations, communications equipment, and any other applicable equipment.
- Conducts preventative maintenance activities to extend the useful life of all company assets including machinery, equipment, vehicles, and support equipment per the instruction and plans created by the Facilities Maintenance Manager.
- In cooperation with the Production Managers and Facilities Maintenance Manager, help with the cleaning and maintenance processes regarding all production equipment.
- Participates in the company’s waste disposal process including residual material, waste, and scrap to minimize cost and improve material utilization.
- In cooperation with the Quality/Safety/Training Manager and Facilities Maintenance Manager, ensure the company’s safety policies and procedures are being adhered to in the production process and bring infractions to the attention of the Production Managers.
- In cooperation with the Production Managers, ensure the production work areas are clean, well-organized, and free of debris in accordance with the Five S program and bring any infraction to the attentions of the Production Managers.
- Aid in the maintenance of the fire suppression systems for all facilities used by the company including sparkler systems, fire extinguishers, and chemical retardants, and ensure employees are properly trained on their use when applicable.
- Utilize strong problem-solving skills, exceptional interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written skills when interacting with all departments and other managers.
- Actively seeks to enhance their knowledge of the latest trends in equipment repairs.
- In cooperation with the Quality/Safety/Training Manager and Facilities Maintenance Manager, conducts maintenance orientations for direct labor employees, especially for new hires, regarding the proper procedures for utilizing production equipment in such a manner to extend its useful life, as requested.
- Recommends improvement to the fire safety and emergency preparedness plans including handling hazardous chemical emergencies.
- Any other relevant duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Manager.
Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to perform facilities and equipment maintenance for an industrial finishing operation.
- Basic knowledge of ISO 9100/AS9100 quality management system requirements pertaining to facilities management.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment used in metal and plastic finishing production.
- Ability to diagnose and repair delivery trucks (both gas and diesel), trailers, and forklifts.
- Ability to diagnose and repair infrastructure components at company facilities per instruction.
- Capable of reading blueprints and schematics pertaining to facilities and equipment to facilitate proper repairs.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- One (1) or more years of experience as a Maintenance or Facilities Technician in an industrial or production environment having over 20,000 square feet (required).
- Three (3) or more years of experience as a Maintenance or Facilities Technician in an industrial finishing company with over 30,000 square feet with ISO9100/AS9100 certification (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to perform facilities and equipment maintenance for an industrial finishing operation.
- Basic knowledge of ISO 9100/AS9100 quality management system requirements pertaining to facilities management.
- Setting up and maintaining the company’s security system to facilitate loss prevention activities.
- Ability to diagnose and repair delivery trucks (both gas and diesel), trailers, and forklifts.
- Ensuring full functionality and repairing all rolling stock including trucks, trailers, forklifts, pallet jacks, carts and other related equipment including implementation of a preventative maintenance program for delivery trucks.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand or kneel for prolonged periods of time when doing repairs and maintenance.
- Must have a full range of body movements including use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and bending, reaching, and crouching.
- Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds with regularity.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Some travel may be required.
