Automotive Service Advisor Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor to join our dealership service department. The Service Advisor serves as the primary point of contact between our customers and technicians, ensuring each customer receives clear communication, accurate recommendations, and timely updates throughout the repair process.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, sales-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple repair orders in a fast-paced environment. Success in this position requires the ability to build customer trust, identify needed maintenance and repairs, sell recommended services, and consistently deliver an excellent customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers promptly and professionally while listening carefully to their vehicle concerns.
- Accurately document customer concerns and create detailed repair orders.
- Review vehicle history and recommend maintenance based on mileage, manufacturer guidelines, and current vehicle condition.
- Communicate customer concerns clearly to technicians and review technician findings and multipoint inspection results.
- Present recommended repairs and maintenance to customers in a clear, professional, and easy-to-understand manner.
- Obtain customer authorization before completing additional work.
- Maintain consistent communication with customers regarding repair status, pricing, parts availability, and estimated completion times.
- Follow up on declined services and help customers plan for future maintenance needs.
- Monitor assigned repair orders to ensure work progresses efficiently and promised completion times are met.
- Work closely with technicians, parts personnel, dispatch, and management to resolve delays or customer concerns.
- Verify that repair orders are complete and accurate before customer delivery.
- Review completed work and final charges with customers at vehicle pickup.
- Maintain accurate documentation of customer communication, approvals, recommendations, and declined services.
- Build long-term customer relationships that increase retention and repeat business.
- Meet departmental goals for sales, customer satisfaction, repair-order performance, and service retention.
- Follow all dealership policies, manufacturer requirements, and safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous automotive Service Advisor experience is strongly preferred.
- Dealership service department experience is preferred.
- Stellantis, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or Ram experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge of automotive maintenance, repair procedures, and common vehicle systems.
- Ability to explain technical information clearly without overwhelming the customer.
- Proven ability to sell recommended services while maintaining honesty and customer trust.
- Strong customer service, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple customers and repair orders simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
- Comfortable using dealership management systems, computers, email, and text-message communication.
- Ability to remain professional and composed in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are required.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
