Job Title: Paralegal
Reports To: Attorney Team Leader, Executive Committee, HR Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: Assists attorney in all aspects of trial preparation and litigation of cases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares client files for hearings.
- Prepares legal documentation for execution by the parties.
- Schedule mediation conferences and hearings with Judges, counsel, and/or insurance carriers
- Prepares resolution documents.
- Communicate with clients via personal meetings, phone, email, and mail.
- Communicates with insurance carriers, counsel, and Judges.
- Calculates average weekly wage, and partial disability for clients.
- Obtains reimbursement of litigation costs.
- Manages calendar for attorneys.
- Trains staff on case development.
- Case and Checklist Management.
- Vocational meetings
- Manage cases where fees are being received.
- Prepares quantum meruit for presentation to court.
- Reviews cases to ensure attorney’s fees are up to date and execute the appropriate follow-up.
- Ensures attorney fees are being paid by insurance carrier.
- Performs docket searches and obtains lien information from various entities prior to conclusion of litigation.
- Uploads and obtains relevant case information from the Bureau of Workers Compensation management system, WCAIS.
Other Responsibilities
- Assists other team members with questions and problems.
- Calculates distribution of checks of over $500 for attorney accounts.
- Ensure proper filing of original legal documents.
- Assigns and supervises the work of other team members.
- New client intakes (after 90 days)
- Files petitions with Bureau of Workers’ Compensation
- Scans documents in client’s file
Competencies

- Must possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, manage a fast-paced environment, and manage workload with a positive outlook and minimal supervision.
- Sound business acumen regarding administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as Microsoft Office.
- Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Paralegal Certification is a plus.
- Case management experience is preferred.
Salary
- Salary is commensurate with experience.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
