JOB
Performs intermediate semiskilled work diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles and heavy equipment, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Landfill/Transfer Supervisor.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Performs preventive maintenance and repair on a variety of vehicles and equipment including automobiles, tractors, heavy construction equipment and landscaping equipment.

Performs motor repair and replacement work; performs repair work on both gas and diesel engines.

Fabricates replacement parts and metal for repairs to vehicles and equipment.

Maintains cleanliness of shop area, tools and equipment and exterior building perimeter.

Performs inspections; maintains records of service and repairs.

Repairs hydraulic systems on heavy duty equipment.

Assists with storm cleanup.

Performs other assigned duties.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Three to five (3-5) years of experience in a related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Valid North Carolina driver's license (Successful completion of In-House CDL Certification required within 6 months of hire)

Valid CDL minimum of Class B driver’s license recommended. (CDL Class A preferred)
