GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach Art History: Renaissance to Modern (ART134) on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30 to 1:45pm during the Fall 2026 semester (September 8 - December 22, 2026). In Art History, students explore the art of the western world from the Renaissance to the Modern eras. Illustrated lectures cover general aesthetic trends, the life and work of key artists, ideas guiding their creations, the vocabulary of art, as well as important methods, materials, and techniques the artists have employed. Significant artistic creations ranging in character from the personal, to the political, and religious are examined. Students are required to make an independent visit to a museum.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Provide instruction in a face-to-face learning environment on campus.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Art History, Visual or Fine Arts or a closely related field with appropriate areas of concentration.

College-level teaching experience in Art History, Art Appreciation or equivalent.

Effective pedagogical, teaching, and presentation skills.

Experience using evidence-based strategies to support student success including frequent communication and active learning.

Ability to create an inclusive classroom environment that engages a diverse student population with different learning preferences.

Skill in using technology to support the teaching and learning processes.

Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Teaching at the community college level.

Skill using MOODLE or other Learning Management System (LMS) to support student learning.

Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: Compensation for course delivery follows the guideline of the relevant MCCC contract. Anticipated starting salary - Step I DCE Pay Scale (presently $4,536 for 3-credit course). Part-time, non-benefited MCCC Unit position
