Develop, implement, and maintain enrichment programs for shelter animals including playgroups for dogs. Develop or maintain community outreach programs, as well as be a liaison for community outreach. Keep necessary records on volunteers and all programs, including any and all training, updated volunteer handbooks, and volunteer job descriptions, training materials, required forms, and coordinate all volunteer/enrichment/community scheduling and events.

Prepare departmental and other reports as required.Serve as liaison with community organizations, businesses, and schools.Write and distribute volunteer/shelter newsletter.Recruit, train, and supervise shelter volunteer force, including CAVIT students.Develop and maintain volunteer training and program materials as well as volunteer schedules.Train volunteers and staff on enrichment/playgroups for dogs, as well as maintain the programs as on going.Maintain volunteer personnel records.Operate as community liaison and community activities and provision of educational programs.To promote and adhere to the workplace values of accountability, commitment, and teamwork to help enrich lives beyond expectation.Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records and restricted County information.Must have the ability to travel for training conferences if needed.Perform other related duties as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge of basic laws, statutes, and ordinances governing animal control issues.Knowledge of regional animal care resources available to citizens.Skilled in exercising patience, care, and compassion in dealing with animals.Skilled in animal handling.Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work can be physical and requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including handling dogs on and off leash. The work also requires the ability to finger, walk, perform repetitive motion, hear, speak, and demonstrate mental and visual acuity.WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a relatively safe, secure, and stable work environment.The hiring salary for this position is dependent upon experience, qualifications and position funding; starting salaries above the first quartile require additional approval.NOTICE TO APPLICANTS We appreciate your interest in our employment opportunities.
