Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Resident Care Manager, where you will lead and coordinate comprehensive resident care services in a vibrant long-term care or assisted living environment. You will oversee daily operations, supervise care staff, and ensure adherence to all healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and state-specific long-term care standards. Duties
- Lead and supervise nursing and care staff, managing schedules, training, and performance to maintain a motivated and compliant team.
- Oversee resident assessments, develop individualized care plans, and monitor ongoing health status utilizing EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Ensure proper medication administration, IV infusion procedures, catheterization, tube feeding, and other medical treatments are performed safely according to policies.
- Coordinate with physicians for medical documentation, discharge planning, diagnostic evaluations, and specialist consultations including geriatrics, behavioral health, dementia care, and pediatric cases when applicable.
- Conduct regular physical examinations and vital signs assessments; manage acute pain and infection control protocols to promote optimal health outcomes.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and long-term care regulations; ensure accurate medical records management including ICD-10/ICD-9 coding and documentation standards.
- Facilitate team communication through effective managerial strategies; promote a culture of safety, respect, and continuous improvement aligned with NCQA standards.
Experience
- Proven management experience in a healthcare setting such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or hospital environments with supervisory responsibilities.
- Extensive clinical background with critical care experience including ICU or Level I Trauma Center exposure; familiarity with acute care practices is highly valued.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, diagnostic evaluation techniques, and medical imaging procedures.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner or Athenahealth; proficiency in ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding for procedures such as suturing or spinal tap is preferred.
- Background working with diverse populations including individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia patients (memory care), pediatrics (including neonatal ventilator management), or behavioral health cases.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively within regulatory frameworks such as long-term care regulations and workers’ compensation law.
- Familiarity with physical assessments like venipuncture, phlebotomy, sterile processing techniques, sterile technique for invasive procedures like spinal taps or gastric lavage.
- Experience in managing patient intake processes, discharge planning, utilization review/management activities; knowledge of hospital medicine protocols is advantageous.
