Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Substance Use Counselor to join our women-centered treatment team. This is a meaningful opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting women in recovery and ready to grow as a clinician. In this role, you’ll provide individual and group counseling, support clients through crisis intervention and de-escalation, assist with care coordination, and help women build sustainable recovery plans in a safe, supportive setting. Whether you're an experienced clinician or just starting your journey, we welcome learners, students, and individuals with lived recovery experience.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a caseload and meet individually with each client weekly to support progress and emotional wellness
- Facilitate clinical group sessions focused on recovery skills, life skills, and emotional regulation using evidence-based approaches
- Complete timely, clinically sound documentation including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries
- Engage in care coordination with outside providers, probation officers, families, and community resources as needed
- Participate in weekly clinical team meetings, multidisciplinary case consults, and individual supervision
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support to clients experiencing acute distress or emotional dysregulation
- Support clients with case management tasks such as referrals, benefit navigation, or appointment planning
- Utilize trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and motivational interviewing techniques in all client interactions
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA, ethical guidelines, and professional boundaries
- Stay engaged in learning and skill-building through training, supervision, and team collaboration.
Requirements
- Active Maine CADC or LADC credential (or eligibility to obtain)
- Supervision available for CADC-level clinicians working toward LADC licensure
- Experience in substance use counseling, crisis intervention, or case management (preferred but not required)
- Strong documentation skills and ability to maintain accurate, timely records
- Ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds and maintain professional boundaries
- Comfort working independently while actively participating in a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, or recovery-based models is a plus
- Commitment to continued learning, reflective practice, and ethical client care

- Availability 5 days per week (there can be flexibility regarding which days of the week are worked)
