POSITION SUMMARY:
Develops, organizes and implements a high quality YMCA swim team program. Provides quality experience to all members focused around the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:

Direct, supervise and implement swim team program activities to meet YMCA objectives.
- Train, develop, schedule and direct personnel and volunteers as needed. Assist in the evaluation of staff and volunteers.

Create and schedule swim team practices and meets.

Coordinate all aspects of swim meets to include meet sheets, set-up, and volunteer solicitation to ensure the overall success of swim meets.

Maintain accurate, complete and timely records. Track attendance of all swimmers and maintain appropriate records of all swim team related events.

Ensure practice and swim meets begin and end on time.

Secure and schedule pool facilities.

Conduct and ensure proper maintenance of equipment.

Ensure staff, volunteers and members are following all safety standards and policies at all times.

Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information.

Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives.

Attend all training and staff meetings.
Child Protection Responsibilities:

Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth.

Participates in required abuse risk management training.

Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.

Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.

Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.

The employee is occasionally required to taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, and depth perception.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions (exposure to outside weather is frequent if working at an outdoor pool). The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Two or more years of swim coaching experience preferred, Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Competitive swimming experience at the high school or collegiate level.

Strong communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal).
-
Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
-
Afternoon, evening and some weekend hours required.
