ABOUT THE ROLE: ACCOUNTS PAYABLE ACCOUNTANT
The Accounts Payable (AP) Accountant will support and coordinate AP support functions in the Accounting Department.
This position is located in Washington, DC. The AP Accountant is expected to work in-office at least two days per week, typically Tuesdays and Thursdays.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enters and posts accounting transactions.
- Sets up wires in CashPro
- Posts and attaches payment confirmations in JAMIS.
- Works with the AP team to print, distribute mail and file payments.
- Serves as main POC for overhead expense accounting, including review of expense reports and setup of payment through e-banking.
- Maintains accurate accounting records.
- Assists with documentation requests for audits.
- Creates and maintains vendor files.
- Liaises with document storage company to recall and send out documentation.
- Assists AP Manager with monthly posting to GL and electronic payment.
- Serves as main point of contact for ACH transfers.
- Works with AP team to prepare monthly reconciliation of institute wide billings.
- Assists with prep of award billing.
- Preforms other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We seek a passionate and experienced individual with:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration or equivalent experience.
- Minimum one year of experience in an accounting role.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience operating under strict deadlines and ability to adapt to shifting priories.
IRI TOTAL COMPENSATION
The anticipated compensation range for this position is $24/hour to $28/hour USD.
The pay for this position is determined based on a wide variety of factors including but not limited to an individual’s professional experience, qualifications, education and other business needs along with internal equity considerations. Employees are not typically hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are made based on the aforementioned considerations.
