HDM Hydraulics is looking to hire a Safety and Environmental Coordinator. This position will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing work environments and assisting in the design of programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent injury caused by physical, chemical, or ergonomic factors. Duties will include but not be limited to: Assess and evaluate plant conditions for H&S compliance, conduct or manage inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing health and safety. The EHS coordinator develops and maintains proficiency in technical matters related to Safety and Industrial Hygiene with a focus on our Safety Culture.
Successful candidates will possess the ability to work with individuals from varied backgrounds, skills, and education levels to complete projects in an efficient and organized manner.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Be extremely versed in Environmental Health and compliance.
- Drive the Safety culture by acting as an ambassador for Health, Safety, Environmental programs and in accordance with the Company vision and values.
- Coordinate, implement and administer all required safety, health and environmental programs to ensure health, safety and environmental compliance in accordance with OSHA standards and internal policies.
- Works with the site leadership team to review accident/incident investigations, determine root cause and recommend and/or implement corrective actions.
- Maintains awareness and advises management concerning future regulatory changes and requirements with assistance.
- Coach employees, supervisors and management on Workplace Safety, Policy and Procedures, best practices and principles.
- Coordinate the collection of EHSQ performance metrics and prepare reports as required.
- Coordinates employee health surveillance evaluations as required by company polices, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and legal requirements.
- Assist in maintaining the Production System (HSI) and related programs to support compliance. Develop and implement EH&S programs in consultation with all departments and EHS team.
- Perform, participate and support health & safety and environmental audits and corrective action.
Education, Experience and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental or similar field required.
- Minimum of three (4) years of experience, with strong knowledge of safety regulatory requirements required.
- Industrial hygiene knowledge preferred.
- CSP or similar certification preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent computer skills, proficiency in Office Suite (primarily MS Outlook, Excel and Word)
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-up skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent data management skills
- Strong process-improvement, organization, and project management skills
- Independent thinker, ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
- Creative problem-solver and troubleshooter
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
- Field environment when required.
Work Environment
Position functions in several different environments which includes a professional office, field, and fast paced production environment.
