Role Overview
-
Under the direction of the Principal, the Behavior Interventionist collaborates with teachers, the Principal and the Assistant Principal to support behavioral programs and related initiatives. This role includes providing guidance and resources to teachers and school staff; implementing and maintaining behavioral services in accordance with established guidelines and standards; developing goals and individualized behavior plans; progress monitoring scholar behavior and providing both reactive and strategic support, and providing supervision as needed to address behavioral needs.
Essential Responsibilities

Provides and monitors program work in intervention to meet the individual needs of Momentum Academy scholars.

Work with classroom teacher to provide intervention supports for scholars with behavioral needs

Assists with Office Referrals and in-school and out of school suspension process

Develops a continuous process that engages scholars in appropriate meaningful discussions, feedback and expectations appropriate for the student during the intervention process

Develops creative solutions to maximize a safe learning environment which targets student skills deficits and focuses on alternative behavioral strategies.

Develops a repertoire of de-escalation skills and understands and utilizes conflict resolution skills to assist scholars in regaining instructional control.

Utilizes appropriate communication skills in the corrective teaching/feedback to help scholars identify negative and/or coercive behaviors and help them replace them with pro-social skills.

Utilizes intervention data to make appropriate recommendation changes in behavior plans.

Models and coaches the principles of behavior techniques with instructional staff.

Models professional and ethical standards when interacting with scholars, parents, peers, and community members

Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with scholars, parents, peers, and community members

Communicates frequently with stakeholders (families, teachers, and administration) through phone calls, emails, in-person conversations, and conferences

Perform other duties as requested or required
Educational Requirements

60 college credit hours
-
Substitute Teaching Certificate
Qualifications
-
Strong classroom management skills
-
At least 1-3 years of interventionist, urban experience required
-
Exceptional MS Excel Skills and strong skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
-
Proven track record of building strong and positive relationships with scholars
Compensation
The hourly rate for this position begins at $18.43 per hour (annualized at $38,335) and increases based on years of experience, certification(s), and highest level of education.
Schedule & Work Environment
7:30-4 PM at Momentum Academy
