Senior Agricultural Equipment Mechanic
Location: Colusa County
Pay: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour (DOE)
Job Type: Full-Time
Shift: During harvest season (July–October), mechanics typically work M–Sat, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM to support peak operations. Following harvest, the schedule transitions to a M–F, 40-hour workweek.
Overview
Express Employment Professionals in Yuba City is partnering with a well-established agricultural operation in the Colusa County area to hire an experienced Senior Agricultural Equipment Mechanic.
This position is ideal for an experienced mechanic who can independently diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide variety of agricultural equipment supporting orchard and harvest operations. The ideal candidate has extensive experience working on diesel-powered equipment, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and harvest machinery and enjoys solving complex mechanical problems in both shop and field environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Independently diagnose, maintain, and repair agricultural equipment and machinery
- Perform preventative maintenance on tractors, harvest equipment, sweepers, conditioners, bank-outs, trailers, forklifts, and support equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrain components, and A/C systems
- Respond to equipment breakdowns in both shop and field environments
- Perform welding and light fabrication repairs as needed
- Inspect equipment and proactively identify maintenance concerns before failures occur
- Maintain detailed maintenance and repair records
- Mentor and assist junior mechanics when needed
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
- Follow all company safety procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements
- Support orchard and harvest operations as needed
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience repairing agricultural equipment, diesel engines, heavy equipment, automotive equipment, or similar machinery
- Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and A/C systems
- Ability to independently troubleshoot and complete complex mechanical repairs
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred
- Experience maintaining orchard and harvest equipment strongly preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid California Driver License required
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Willingness to work extended hours during harvest season (July–October)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and work in confined spaces for extended periods
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, welders, jacks, lifts, and diagnostic equipment
- Comfortable working around machinery, grease, oils, chemicals, dust, and noise
