About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled AI Platform Engineer to help design and build the next generation of AI-driven development systems for enterprise engineering teams. In this role, you will work at the forefront of innovation, enabling AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to operate effectively within complex, large-scale codebases.
You will focus on architecting structured agent frameworks, creating intelligent guardrails, and developing scalable systems that integrate AI seamlessly into real-world development workflows. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience in emerging AI tooling, and thrives in an environment where the role evolves from writing code to defining intent, designing constraints, and validating AI-generated outputs.
This position is based in Chicago (preferred) with flexibility for remote or hybrid work, and minimal travel requirements.
This Hybrid opportunity is open to individuals located in the Chicago IL and surrounding areas .
Additionally, the role requires access to reliable internet and the ability to manage all responsibilities from a home office. The project hours of operations will be Monday – Friday , in which candidate must be available to work an 8-hour shift between 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Eastern Time .
Contractors will be engaged and paid by a third-party payroll supplier, BCforward , which will serve as the employer of record for tax and compliance purposes.
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties
Design and implement structured agent harnesses and orchestration frameworks that enable AI coding agents to operate reliably across enterprise codebases
Develop and enforce architectural constraints and guardrails, including dependency rules, custom linters, and structural validation tests
Build and maintain context engineering frameworks (e.g., AGENTS.md files, in-repo documentation, feature manifests) to enhance AI reasoning and performance
Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate AI-driven development workflows into CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling ecosystems
Deliverables or Project Scope
Deliver scalable agentic engineering infrastructure that supports multi-agent workflows and continuous improvement cycles
Create multi-session, multi-context workflows enabling incremental AI-driven development through progress tracking and environment scaffolding
Establish repository-as-source-of-truth models with machine-readable, version-controlled artifacts
Implement automated feedback loops such as CI validation, end-to-end testing, and LLM-based review systems to continuously improve system performance
Collaboration Tools or Platforms
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
AI development tools such as Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor, Windsurf, or similar platforms
CI/CD platforms and developer tooling ecosystems supporting automated testing and validation workflows
Internal repositories, documentation systems, and agent orchestration frameworks (e.g., MCP servers, tool-use APIs, multi-agent architectures)
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
5+ years of experience in software engineering fundamentals, including architecture, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and developer tooling
1+ year of hands-on experience working with AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor, Windsurf, or similar) in real-world development environments
1+ year of experience with agent orchestration or tool-use patterns, including MCP servers, APIs, or multi-agent frameworks
Strong understanding of application architecture patterns and enterprise-scale development practices (P5 – Master level preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building or contributing to developer platforms, internal tooling, or reusable reference architectures used across engineering teams
Familiarity with context engineering, including structuring repositories, schemas, and documentation for effective AI agent reasoning
Experience creating technical documentation, such as playbooks, runbooks, or developer guides
Exposure to or proficiency with multiple programming languages or frameworks (e.g., .NET, Node.js, Python)
Experience working in AI-first or agent-assisted development environments, where engineers define intent, constraints, and validation approaches

Compensation for contractor roles supporting Accenture is determined by the contractor’s employer BCforward , and varies depending on factors such as location, role, skill set, and experience.
