Butter Beans provides nutritious, wholesome meals for charter schools, private schools, and summer camps throughout the New York City and tri-state area. Butter Beans seeks like minded individuals to support our school cafeteria service team. This position of Senior Supervisor reports to the company’s management. This is a seasonal position that follows the school calendar year.
Schedule: Full time Monday - Friday
Position begins the last week of July.
Commute: Must be able to commute to the Upper East Side, Manhattan
Responsibilities:
* Lead all daily culinary operations, including breakfast, lunch, after-school programs, and special events.
* Develop innovative, child-friendly menus that balance nutrition, quality, and cost control.
* Ensure strict compliance with all kosher requirements under the school’s rabbinical supervision.
* Manage food production for high-volume service while maintaining consistency and presentation standards.
* Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff to foster a culture of excellence and accountability.
* Oversee ordering, inventory management, vendor relationships, and food cost controls.
* Maintain compliance with NYC Department of Health regulations and food safety standards.
* Collaborate with school administration and food service leadership to continuously improve the dining experience.
* Support catering functions, holiday programming, faculty events, and community gatherings.
* Monitor labor scheduling and productivity to meet budgetary goals.
Requirements:
-Food Handlers License is required
-Minimum 5 years of Executive Chef or Senior Sous Chef experience in kosher catering, schools, hotels, commissaries, restaurants, or institutional food service.
-Strong knowledge of kosher food preparation and kashrut compliance.
-Experience managing teams in a high-volume production environment.
-Proven ability to control food costs, labor costs, and inventory.
-Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
-Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
-Experience with school food service, catering, or large-scale commissary operations

Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
