American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a variable shift position at a Level II Trauma Center in Bangor, ME.

411-bed Level II Trauma Center hospital in Bangor, ME

Respiratory Therapy unit serving 3 Adult ICUs, a Cardiac Critical Care Unit, Level II Trauma Center Emergency Department, Intermediate Care Unit, and General Medical Floors — Level III NICU & PICU also on site (training to NICU/PICU/Peds only required if position is posted for that area)

Common diagnoses include COPD, CHF, Cystic Fibrosis, ARDS, MVA Trauma/Surgery, Pneumonia, Lung Cancer, Stroke, ALS, GBS, COVID-19, and RSV

Variable shift with day (0645–1915) and night (1845–0715) options; most current need is on nights and travelers will not be required to flip between days and nights within the same week

Every other weekend rotation required

Voluntary call only — 2 hours before shift start and 2 hours after

Float to other trained units only

Ventilators and respiratory equipment used include Servo U, Servo I, Hamilton T1, Trilogy, V60, V30, EV300, and Vero Biotech Nitric Delivery system (Drager used in NICU only)

RRT credential required; candidates with a CRT and extensive experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis with manager approval

Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
-
BLS required for adult RT positions; NRP required and PALS preferred for NICU/PICU/Peds positions
-
Critical care experience required, including airway and ventilator management, ABG puncture and analysis, non-invasive ventilation, code blue and rapid response, and inhaled medication administration

Compact or ME state license required (license required if applicable)

Candidates must have a permanent address 100+ miles South/SW of the facility to be eligible; candidates living 100+ miles North are considered on a case-by-case basis

Candidates must not have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity

Flu vaccination required for clearance

Required for consideration: full SSN, Driver's License, copies of all certifications, and 2 professional references from within the past year (at least one from a Supervisor, Manager, or Director — Charge RN accepted, peer references not accepted)

Protocol-driven, critical care-focused RT team
-
Department support includes a Lead/Charge, Manager, Assistant Manager, RT Educator, and Medical Director
-
Orientation consists of 1 general orientation shift with the RT Educator plus 1 shift per unit trained to (generally 4–5 total orientation shifts)

If the posting is for a NICU/PICU/Peds RT role, the traveler must have prior NICU/PICU experience in addition to adult experience, and experience with Oscillator 3100 Sensormatic and Drager ventilators is helpful; comfort working with adults is also required throughout the contract

Holiday coverage assigned unless RTO is otherwise arranged; all RTO requests must go through the Manager for approval

Any professional scrub color or pattern is acceptable; OR scrub machines are also available on site
