Maintenance Technician Job Description
Primary Responsibilities: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for managing and maintaining all company facilities and machinery in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role includes coordination of regular maintenance activities, supervision of necessary repairs, and acting as the liaison for contractors as well as environmental and safety compliance matters.
Key Duties: Facilities and Equipment Maintenance:
- Ensure continuous upkeep and functionality of building systems and machinery.
- Stock, manufacture and manage spare parts inventory.
- Lockout/Tagout Procedure
○ Perform Lockout/Tagout procedures when required
- Run errands using the Quirk Wire truck.
- Complete and submit EU machine downtime forms for extruders (to employee managing DEP paperwork)
- Make sure large makeup air system is working properly
○ Process for when large makeup air system is down
Regulatory and Safety Compliance:
- Maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Act as a liaison for any inspections or documentation requirements.
Coordinating Responsibilities:
- Spare Parts List (Controlled Document)
○ Maintain Spare Parts list and Procure parts for repair and scheduled maintenance
● Major Equipment List (Controlled Document)
○ Maintain Major Equipment List
- Oversee maintenance and upgrades of:
- Facility utilities
- New Machines
- Existing Machines
- Security systems
- Signage
- Coordinate all work performed by outside contractors in conjunction with management.
Routine Processes with Log Sheets (Controlled Documents):
Each task below must be logged at the time of completion:
- Test air compressor timer (monthly)
- Blow out spark tester bead chain area (weekly)
- Inspect sprinkler room and check light (monthly)
- Grease ram extruders (every 8–9 weeks)
- Change air compressor oil (every 6 months), checked every 3 months
- Grease 12-bay cabler (when maintenance light indicates)
- Change wheels on curing towers (as needed)
After-Hours Emergency Response Policy:
- Any after-hours emergency that requires physical attendance will result in a 4-hour minimum overtime pay.
- To avoid duplicate efforts, the Maintenance Technician must promptly respond by phone to indicate availability.
- Most issues are not considered emergencies.
Authorized Callers After 6:30 PM: Only specific personnel are permitted to contact the Maintenance Technician for emergencies. Eric Ostiguy & Nighttime Extruder Operators.
Non-Emergency Communication Protocol:
- Issues that are not emergencies should be:
- Documented in a written note left on the Maintenance Coordinator’s desk, or
- Communicated via email or Trillian
- Response to emails is at the Maintenance Coordinator's discretion and availability.
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
