Position Summary:
The Toddler Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children typically ages 18 months to 3 years. This role supports each child’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth while working collaboratively with families and staff in alignment with the Primrose Balanced Learning® approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean, safe, and engaging classroom environment.
- Directly supervise children at all times, following state ratio requirements.
- Implement daily schedules and routines that support learning and independence.
- Follow the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum, including lesson plans and age-appropriate activities.
- Support children through play-based learning, language development, early literacy, and fine/gross motor skills.
- Foster social-emotional growth using positive guidance strategies.
- Assist with diapering, toileting, feeding, and transitions according to health and safety guidelines.
- Observe and document developmental milestones and behaviors.
- Adapt activities to meet individual needs and learning styles.
- Build positive, professional relationships with families.
- Provide daily updates on children’s routines, progress, and well-being.
- Work cooperatively with co-teachers, leadership, and support staff.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development.
- Help maintain classroom materials, equipment, and cleanliness.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; CDA or degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
- Previous experience working with toddlers in a licensed childcare setting.
- Knowledge of child development and positive behavior guidance.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and engage in physical classroom activities.
- Must meet state licensing requirements, including background checks and health clearances.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
