Our World Neighborhood Charter Schools (OWNCS) is seeking a dynamic and engaging Science Teacher (K–5) to deliver high-quality, inquiry-based science instruction aligned with the New York State Science Learning Standards. The ideal candidate fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and hands-on learning through the implementation of the FOSS (Full Option Science System) curriculum and collaborative instructional practices.
The Science Teacher will create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of all learners while promoting scientific exploration and problem-solving skills.

Valid New York State Teaching Certification appropriate for elementary education and/or science instruction.

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Experience teaching elementary science in a school setting preferred.

Experience with FOSS or other inquiry-based science curricula strongly preferred.

Familiarity with NYS Science Learning Standards and state assessment expectations.

Experience supporting diverse learners, including ENL students and students with disabilities.

Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to create engaging and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for elementary students.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented school environment.

Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on science instruction aligned to NYS Science Learning Standards.

Implement the FOSS (Full Option Science System) curriculum with fidelity and consistency.

Facilitate inquiry-based lessons, experiments, investigations, and student-centered learning activities.

Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including ENL students and students with disabilities.

Integrate literacy, math, and cross-curricular skills into science instruction where appropriate.

Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions.

Maintain organized classroom and laboratory materials while ensuring proper safety procedures are followed at all times.

Establish and maintain a structured, respectful, and positive classroom environment.

Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, support staff, and school leadership.

Communicate regularly and professionally with families regarding student progress and classroom expectations.

Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school-wide initiatives.

Support the mission, vision, and goals of OWN Charter Schools.
Salary Range: $69,888 – $115,136 based on education, certification, years of relevant experience, and verified prior service, in alignment with the OWNCS salary scale.
Employees with 30 credits beyond a master’s degree (MA +30) may be eligible for additional compensation in accordance with the salary schedule.
This is a 10-month instructional position, with salary and benefits distributed evenly over 12 months to ensure consistent income and year-round coverage.
