Job Summary
Responsible for origination of long-term mortgage loans as well as land, consumer loans, second mortgages, home equity and home equity lines of credit, credit cards, and unsecured loans. Conducts initial prequalification interviews and prepares complete loan application packages and necessary documentation. Conveys policies for extension of credit in accordance with credit union and secondary investor guidelines. Meets scheduling and documentation requirements, and production expectations as determined by the Lending Manager. Serves members, prospective members, builders, developers, and realtors promptly and professionally. Provides general credit union information and cross-sells credit union products and services. Assists underwriters/processors as necessary.
Duties
- Interviews member and prospective member loan applicants to develop information concerning their loan needs, earnings, and financial condition on loan requests.
- Evaluates and verifies loan applications and credit criteria. Calculates debt ratios. Verifies employment and income. Determines value of collateral. Approves loans within limits of authority and notifies applicants of loan decisions. Requests additional information if required.
- Coordinates and processes closings. Ensures each loan is promptly and properly prepared, documented, processed, approved, and disbursed.
- Assists in servicing loans by processing such items as payoff, refinances, problem loan workout arrangements, address changes, payment extensions, collateral releases, and payment due date changes.
- Assumes responsibility for filing vehicle titles and prompt follow-up on titles still pending. Verifies car insurance coverage; uses NADA guides with Epysis system to determine vehicle appraisals.
- Analyzes current financial position of members and prospective members to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. Makes decision to approve, disapprove, or forward the loan request to higher levels for decision.
- Ensure lending operations are conducted in accordance with established credit union policies and are legally compliant. Ensure loan requests are properly documented.
- Keeps up with training and current updates, regulations, and FNMA guidelines.
- Establishes the terms and conditions of an approved loan and reviews them with the member and prospective member.
- Prepares and/or reviews all loan documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Participates in sales development activities; actively cross-sells credit union products and services.
- Authorize release of collateral on existing loans, changes in loan terms, waivers of payments, due date change, etc.
- Maintains NMLS license.
- Maintains a professional work environment and business-like appearance.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned practices.
Pay: From $45,000.00 per year
