We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract position specializing in Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) care. Duties
- Provide comprehensive nursing assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and patient history documentation using EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and medication management tailored to individual patient needs.
- Perform wound suturing, catheterization, tube feeding, and sterile procedures following aseptic techniques to promote healing and prevent infections.
- Monitor patients’ physiological status during critical moments such as acute pain episodes or respiratory distress, utilizing ventilators and airway management skills.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and coordination of post-acute care services like hospice & palliative medicine or long-term care facilities.
- Conduct laboratory specimen collection/processing and ensure proper documentation of medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations including cardiac catheterization, sonography, or other imaging procedures as needed for comprehensive patient assessment.
Skills
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
- Extensive critical care experience in ICU or Level I/II trauma centers with familiarity in trauma medicine and infectious disease care.
- Skilled in advanced procedures including IV insertion, phlebotomy, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and laboratory testing.
- Knowledge of pharmacology related to pain management, sedation protocols, botulinum toxin treatments (for applicable specialties), and medication administration best practices.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics (neonatal ventilator), geriatrics (memory care & Alzheimer's), behavioral health patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia.
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Ability to perform physical examinations, patient assessments, triage evaluations in urgent care or emergency room environments.
