Duties
- Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance information
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and visual acuity to assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by performing preliminary tests, including refraction assessments and ocular measurements using optical equipment
- Maintain patient records with precision, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and security of medical information
- Assist with clinical procedures by applying aseptic techniques, managing ophthalmic instruments, and supporting the optometrist during exams
- Operate electronic health record (EHR) systems like OfficeMate or ExamWriter, to document findings accurately and update medical records promptly
- Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and handling retail sales of eyewear products with retail math proficiency
- Ensure clinic cleanliness and proper sterilization of equipment following aseptic techniques to uphold safety standards in ophthalmology settings
- Collaborate with team members on medical coding and billing processes related to eye care services to optimize revenue cycle management
- Provide exceptional patient care by addressing questions about procedures, eyewear options, or follow-up care instructions
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office environment, preferably within ophthalmology or optometry clinics
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy related to the eye, and physiology principles relevant to vision health
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as OfficeMate and ExamWriter for documentation purposes
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance standards and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining patient confidentiality and safety
- Strong communication skills coupled with the ability to work efficiently in fast-paced healthcare settings
NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY. WE OFFER ON-THE-JOB TRAINING. PAY STARTS AT MINIMUM $14.00/HR FOR NO EXPERIENCE.
