Market Pavilion Hotel is seeking Barista | Quick Serve Representatives for our new sweet and savory café, Cafe Pavilion, located on Market Street. All items—from pastries to savory fare—are made from scratch by our in-house culinary team.
The Market Pavilion Hotel, Grill 225, and The Pavilion Bar set the standard for luxury service in Charleston. We offer a highly structured, professional team environment with growth opportunities in one of the city’s top hospitality operations.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We seek energetic, hands-on individuals who are friendly, hospitable, and passionate about delivering quality service. Ideal candidates have experience in coffee shops, gourmet stores, or restaurants and can demonstrate a stable work history of at least one year in a similar role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet and interact with guests at the service counter
- Process food, beverage, and merchandise sales at the POS
- Make coffee beverages including espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and macchiatos
- Handle artisan breads, pastries, desserts, and gelato
- Operate our quick-heat oven to serve selected food items
- Cut, package, and present food per company standards
- Maintain clean and attractive retail displays
- Restock and organize merchandise as needed
- Follow all S.C. DHEC safe food handling procedures
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to bend, kneel, climb stairs, and lift/push/pull 20–30 lbs
- Requires frequent standing, grasping tools, and use of cutting knives
- Comfortable working on uneven surfaces and with required PPE
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 1 year of relevant hospitality or food service experience
- Basic coffee and POS knowledge; latte art a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to follow detailed training and procedures
SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY:
- Must have flexible availability, including mornings (6am–2pm), evenings (2pm–9pm), weekends, and some holidays
- Both part-time and full-time opportunities available
COMPENSATION:
$16.00–$18.00/hour + gratuities
Expected total compensation with gratuities: $16.00–$20.00+ per hour
PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREENING:
Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test through our designated testing facility before final hiring consideration.
