Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented hybrid (in office 1-2 days/week) NJ based Fractional Controller to join our team in Princeton, New Jersey. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will work also with our accounting firm’s team to strengthen financial operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and support strategic business decisions through accurate financial management and reporting.
This is an initially fractional role, ideal for an experienced financial professional familiar with financial and managerial accounting, and seeking flexible engagement with a growing technology company that will provide a gateway to a future FTE role. Our offices in downtown Princeton are easily accessible by car, rail, or bus, and we have off-street parking.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee all accounting functions, working in QuickBooks closely with PACE AI and accounting firm staff to manage the company's financial operations.
· Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and all applicable regulations.
· Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and internal controls.
· Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to support management decision-making.
· Manage the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.
· Conduct reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
· Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals.
· Assist with financial planning, cash flow management, and working capital optimization.
· Assist in management of relationships with banking and external accountants.
· Assist in negotiating credit and/or payment terms with vendors.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with certification as a CPA, CMA, or CIA preferred.
· 5 or more years of experience as a Accounting Manager, Controller, or in a similar accounting leadership role.
· Possess a strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards.
· Demonstrate expertise in accounting software systems and platforms (QuickBooks, Avalara) and solid proficiency with Excel.
· Solid experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
· Exhibit strong communication skills.
· You are based in New Jersey and willing to work from a New Jersey location.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in technology, cleantech, or infrastructure sectors.
· Knowledge of multi-entity accounting and consolidation processes.
