Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Journeyman Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electrical work, including experience in both residential and industrial settings. As a Journeyman Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems while ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and codes. This position requires a thorough understanding of electrical schematics, high and low voltage systems, and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Responsibilities
- Installation: Installing new wiring, conduits, and raceways according to blueprints and electrical codes.
- Maintenance and Repair: Troubleshooting electrical issues, repairing wiring, and maintaining electrical systems.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Reading and interpreting electrical blueprints and schematics to plan and execute wiring installations.
- Code Compliance: Ensuring all electrical work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building codes.
- Safety: Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures when working with electrical systems.
- Testing: Testing electrical systems to ensure proper functionality and safety.
- Coordination: Collaborating with other trades and construction teams to ensure electrical installations are coordinated with other construction activities.
- Supervision: Supervising apprentices and other workers on the job site, if applicable.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Experience
- Proven experience as an electrician in both residential and industrial settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with high voltage systems as well as low voltage applications is highly desirable.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools commonly used in electrical work.
- Experience working on construction sites with an understanding of site safety practices.
- Knowledge of electrical codes (NEC) and ability to apply them effectively in various situations.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues efficiently.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
- Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
- Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to work in cramped work places, such as crawl spaces under floors or attics.
